Why it's laid out like that
The lines follow how the job was actually priced: a half-day or hourly rate covering the visit, then each separate task listed underneath, then fixings and sundries. Each part is separately checkable, which is the whole point — a customer who can verify the bill pays it.
On the day for a single visit. For a punch-list spread over several days, one invoice at the end listing every task is easier for the customer than a trickle.
